Monica Bertei British Actress and Voice-Over Artist

British Actress and Voice-Over Artist

Biography

Monica Bertei is a British actress of stage and screen as well as a successful voice-over artist. She was born in the UK to Italian and German parents with Jewish and Catholic influences.

Monica is the grand daughter of the successful baritone Opera Singer and Artist - Heinz Golletz who performed predominately during the 40's and 50's in Berlin. Despite Heinz's efforts to dissuade a young Monica of the perils and pitfalls of the life of an actor, the acting bug well and truly bit, and Monica threw herself with wild abandon into her career. She readily admits getting her artistic flair from him.

After completing the two year course at the City Lit in London she was awarded a scholarship to study at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA), graduating in 2005. Monica has secured a number of significant theatre roles since graduating from ALRA, in particular at the Traverse, Soho Theatre, and West End's Trafalgar studios as well as working alongside recognised actors such as Fraser Ayres, Jamie Kenna, Merryn Owen and Charlotte Lucas.

Monica is best known for playing the Spanish prostitute, 'Maria' in 'Amada' inspired by Isabel Allende at the Traverse and 'Thea' in Paul Sellar's 'World's End' in the West End.

She began her professional acting career in screen roles such as the feature, 'Coffee Sex You' opposite Rosie Fellner, a guest lead as the Sicilian 'Mira' in the TV series 'Doctors' as well as appearing in comedy 'Plus One' for Channel4.

Fluent in English, French, Italian and German she also has a BA Honours degree in European Studies and French. At university she played 'Polly' in the 'Three Penny Opera' in which she sang and acted in German and was fortunate enough to have worked with some of the most respected directors such as Jennifer Gelfer, Stephen, Cora Bissett, Lorne Campbell and Guy Retallack whom have continued to inspire her.

Monica is also a popular commercial actress featuring in ads for Kinder, Wowcher, Red32, PC World and Burger King.

She is represented by CCM Actors.
